Hi All,

I'd like to spend a month in Italy. Ok. So what else is new?!?!? Except I have this concept of renting a small house/apartment with a swimming pool somewhere in Tuscany or Lazio for June 2005 from which we'll take 2-3 day side trips to other areas. I place with at least 2-bedrooms, a nice, well equiped eat-in kitchen AND not only that, but within walking distance to a town so my two teen girls can go off on their own now and then. So, you say...sounds good! Except the problem I'm having in finding someplace that fits this bill is that everything I see rents per week....and when I multiply these weekly rates x 4, it blows my budget through the roof! Does anyone have any suggestions for making something like this work? Maybe I'm so enamoured with this idea that I can't see other solutions? Help....

Honestly, I think it will be very difficult to find anything that isn't based on a weekly rate especially as June is high season. Maybe you could contact a few different agencies and see if they have anything available that they would give you a discount on? Or possibly try a home switch with someone here who wants to go to the US?

Donna Marie - We were in Italy 2 yrs ago for a the month of July but we didn't rent an apartment in Tuscany. We rented in Rome and traveled elsewhere from there. I believe the name of the agency was www.romanreference.com They were great to deal with and had a lot of places to rent for a month (not sure outside of Rome though) and it was cheaper to rent by the month than weekly.

I have heard about this agroturismo in Civita. It has a pool (I believe), and is self-catering. You'd need to rent a car. You should be able to find out more about it from Mary Jane's website www.elegantetruria.com. Tuscany it isn't, but well-placed for day trips it is! Worth checking out. Good luck in your search!
