Hi Monica,
We are now into Trento and have a Residence America apartment on Via Torre Verde. In your previous post you mentioned opportunities to learn Italian. I would love to hear more.

Hi Sam...Welcome to Trento! Such a shame we are having so much rain and cold weather. Hopefully it won't last much longer and we can all get out and enjoy what Trento has to offer.

I can't remember how long you are staying, but the best study opportunity is during the academic school year, first of October through May. The region offers classes, almost for free €15,00 for the year! They are at Scuola Sanzio, just down the street from you. If you are interested and will still be here, go the first part of September to sign up for a placement test. We just completed our 2nd year of classes with them. It is an excellent opportunity.

Another opportunity is through ATAS, Associazione Trentina Accoglienza Stranieri:
http://www.atas.tn.it/progettiincorso.htm

Their classes are free, and you can come and go as you please. They offer both conversation and grammar at several different levels. Their schedule is:

Mon 6:30-8:00 Conversation
Tues 5:30-7:30 Grammar
Weds 6:30-8:00 Conversation, and also a new class (at the same time)to help stranieri get their drivers license
Sat 10:00-12:00 Grammar

They are a little difficult to find. They are near the intersection of Cso III Novembre and Via Fratelli Perini. We will be going tomorrow evening if you would like to walk up there with us. Send me an e-mail at monicapappas at fastwebnet.it.

Through the university (CIAL)there are language courses. Here is their site:

iveLanguage=en

I don't know if they offer them in the summer as well. My husband did one month with them when we first arrived. It cost, I think, around Euro 400,00, and was pretty intense.

Let me know about tomorrow night. It is about a 15 minute walk up there, so we should meet around 5:10.

Monica
