now I'm really confused...last year, paid my ICI (thank you ALL for the help!!) and thought I was good to go...so...

this year, was not able to be over in person, so I printed out the form from my town's website and filled it in and asked a friend in town to drop it by the post office for me with the money...got an email from her saying they told her I didn't have to pay it anymore??

now I'm totally confused - thought that was only for a prima casa??? I don't quailfy for that (as far as I know anyway) since, even though it's my only home in Italy, we don't live there full time. I'm assumming the p.o. is just plain wrong (?) do I just send my friend in again (she is Italian though and will think I'm nuts - also, I hate to impose!) do I fax or send it registered or something to show I have been trying to pay? DO I wait until I'm in town myself (not 'til Nov. probably) What would you do? Thanks!

It it's not a prima casa you must pay. I would go in person to find out exactly what is the poste's problem with the form. You can also pay online at www.poste.it .

Bill - thanks - that's what I thought!
Will not be over until Nov., but my ICI is so low, I doubt any late penalty would be too bad...think it is best to do it in person and then, I can always go into the tax office and have them help with any questions at the p.o. - I think maybe they are just not used to anyone with a second home in town (and, I tbhink they were trying, in their own way, to be "helpful."

p.s. can't pay online - don't think so anyway...becasue I still don't have online access to my account! can't work out the arrival of the darn silly secutity codes with my stays (!) and they have not let a friend pick them up for me at the post office.
