Someone recently inquired about the availability of gyms in Italy. Which brought to mind the use of HAIR DRYERS in the men's locker room at the gym I go to. I've gone to many gyms but here in Italy what the gym provided dryers are used for boggles my mind:
1) drying underwear,
2) drying feet,
3) drying flip flops,
4) drying .....(can't say that)
5) drying body after shower
5) drying inside of sneakers,
6) on and on....

THEN EVERYONE STILL USES THE DRYERS ANYWAY.

Very strange. I wouldn't even touch those things.

Don't they have towels at this gym? Maybe suggest it to the management.

Towels are never provided by the gym, and I seem to be the only person who puts a towel down on machinery when I use it despite that being a stated required practice. I shower at home after returning there on foot.

If they didn't come to the gym, ostensibly to get some exercise, dolled up, made up, coifed, perfumed, and ridiculously shod the locker room would be a much more useful space.

No problem, why don't the customers bring their own towels? That's what I do at our gym.
Why would anyone want to dry off after a shower with hot air? Wouldn't that dry your skin out pretty badly?

OK Bill, I am able to read, a bit in English, too...

but I must be hard because I still don't understand.
I've never heard of such a thing before.
In the Gym I spent time in, we used our hairdryer provided by the gym itself to dry...our hair.
Maybe we had no fantasy, maybe things have changed since when I went to gym, who knows.

Maybe it's because stelviorider is talking about the MEN's locker rooms. It's possible that women don't use the hairdryer to dry the same thing (ahem!) as the men do.

Ehehe Ramona

We say here "gli uomini sono cialtroncelli" (difficult to translate). Ok on THAT, but as flip flops are concerned, I do wear them.
Even if it could do good to my charme if I didn't, maybe, I also wear underwear...

Unfortunately, I am still trying to imagine the dynamics of how it's done. I mean, are the dryers the wall-mounted ones with the little blower, or the wall-mounted ones with the hose attachment, or are they hand-held? But either way, besides the dry skin issue, isn't there a risk of scalding? Eeker I'm not a man, but I know that those are some delicate parts!

Okay, I've already spent way too much time thinking about this.

Ha, one hose attachment to dry another hose attachment! Another funny visual! Yes, I know...I'm bad. Big Grin

I would hope it's the hand held one because those first two are giving me too many weird visuals! And, I would hope that they use it on the lowest of settings! OUCH! electric

This is way too funny. I'm going to have to ask my OH what goes on in the men's locker room at our palestra.

We only have to wall-mounted dryer with the little blower. I can't imagine drying anything with that! scared
