im getting grossed out by all the breasts i see. women who wear a bra, but then shirts that hardly cover the nipple part, and showing fronts of bras and low shirts that show practically all of the breast. can anyone relate?

it literally grosses me out, and im wondering if that feeling will ever go away? and how long it takes

I dunno, Americans are perhaps grossed out a little too easily, especially for a country with the biggest sex industry in the world, outside of (perhaps) China. It's healthier imho not to be so repressed.
Become a nudist or something ;=) It will cure your fear of bodies.
I HAVE to wear a bra, if I didn't, well, lets not go into it, but I like to wear summer tops and strappy tops, plus this year everything plunges. So I buy bra with pretty straps and a smooth line, but sometimes just pretty straps. I'm not prepared to wear sensible clothes just so people can't see my bra! Sorry! Maybe I should walk down the street with Alice, then it wouldn't be me you were looking at !
One of the most wonderful things about Europe, IMNSHO, is the lack of puritanical fear and hatred of one's own and other's bodies, and the concordant and overshadowing belief that pleasure is bad.
In the US we are bombarded with nonstop murder and death on television with nary a peep from the FCC (regulatory body), and the baring of a breast on national television engenders multi-million dollar fines! Idiocy, sheer idiocy!
Been to the beach lately. Being American they still get my attention, wonder how my son growing up in a more free enviroment will feel when he is older.
LOL. I am American born and raised and I agree many of us are waaaay too uptight when it comes to eating, sex or anything that has to do with real pleasure.
I didn't notice any outrageous breast exposure when I was in Rome. Have things gotten worse because it's summer.

Uhm I am not sure about this one. The word "hatred" is exaggerate, but we do look to each others, we judge a lot others clothes and body shape, we stare at them, we comment them, we copy them, we try to get better than them. That's why walking in Italy can be a pleasure! there is an aethetic challenge...you don't have to win, but you sure want to fit in.
I realized only recently that a lot of my female friends commented too tight or too low cleavage, just because they are envious. When I am gonna show them? When I'll be like a rotten fruit?! I the US I didn't feel ashamed to wear a drass during the day, while in Italy with my curves and cleavage and a skirt long up to the knee I get stared the whole time. Sometimes I can't stand this, sometimes I like it. What you wear is really important here.

I dont think it has to do with being American, but more so with how someone was raised and their own values and comfort levels.
I'm american, and I'm not grossed out by it. And I cant think of a single one of my friends who is either.
When I wear a tank top, my bra straps are always showing. The only time I wear a strapless is if I'm going to a more formal event, or I'm wearing a 'nicer' top at a club or something. Otherwise I need the support of the straps!
Like Alyson, I buy bras with pretty straps, because i know they're going to be seen. And I coordinate the colors with my outfit.
As for showing clevage, I'm not going to wear a high neck shirt just to cover it up. I like tank tops, and I like v-necks. Clevage is nothing new. Again, as long as it isnt at an inapropriate time (wedding, churches, work, more formal occasions, etc), but just hanging out with my friends, going shopping, etc I see no problem with it.
When Janet Jackson’s breast fell out on American television and the network was fined I just couldn’t believe it! It was just a breast! All I know is that I’d rather see nudity on television than look at images of war, destruction, etc.
