Emma, my experience with the post office here is that they will only take your complaint seriously if they lose a registered letter/parcel, for any other loses they simply don’t care! That said, the more there are of us writing to them could create change!

Cristina-A ring is just a status symbol. I would not mind to have a nice diamond ring but this just because I like rings and diamonds. I have a friend who had to ask (how sad since the start!) her husband for a diamond ring when they had their first baby (I give you a child, you give me a ring?)... Unfortunately she only got the ring. For the rest her husband never helped with the child and so on... Maybe you just try to be happy with what you can have...

Exactlky, I am very happy with what I have and do not need something to show off. But then I am that kind of person, never got into the whole status crap.

I came here because I could. I am retired and it has always been a dream for me and also for my husband...not having cars in Venice helped as well as having friends we have made for the last 30 years we have been visiting. I don't complain about anything(at least not out loud) becasue it has been my choice...I take what happens with a grain of salt and try really hard to go with the flow. As for rings, marriage etc I think it is a very personal thing and frankly more of an American thing about meaning commitment. I love it here so far and hope to as long as we live here. Haven't a clue how long that will be.

I guess this plan works better when you're the President of France!!!! gig:

Jeffo, I love you, what shall we call the children?

Sorry, its just you see for me, I really miss the sense of humour that I get when I go back home. I can see and cope with italy, warts and all, but a bloomin good laff, is what I miss.
Italian women really don't seem to get sarcasm, of course, its all just a bit of fun but they really are too 'serious and touchy'.

Oh any as I'm waffling on, I miss my family. Could anyone help here. I mean, how do you cope when the family have a crisis and you can't give them all a big hug.

Anyway jeffo, what day did you say our wedding was? gig

Gotta love the quote, I married the Italian, northen, girl in the states and then made her move back to Italy, she's been pi--ed off at me ever since. Not really, but I did ruin her dream of living in the US.

No just experienced, 3 grown daughters, who have had their issues, my own divorce and being single for 10 years before finally finding the right place to be. Bad choices are not just a female thing you know.

jenna, so I decided to read a bit of your blog. I like your description of me. I won't tell you the truth just that I used to drink beer but have pretty much switched to wine except with pizza.

I hope all goes well with your move, what will your job be. Seems you are one of the few who are able to find work before moving.
