We need to pick up friends TOMORROW who are on a cruise coming into Livorno. We want to drive there, pick them up and then spend the day doing the Pisa/Lucca thing....then drop them back off at the ship by nightfall.

Where is an easy place to pick them up?? I do not know Livorno, but really do not want to pick them up at a city center location (where they might be able to get a shuttle)--it makes me think "hair raising", "terrible traffic", etc., etc.

Can anyone give me some directions and ideas for easy pick-up/drop-off???

Grazie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't give you directions but from when we were on the motorail out of Livorno some years ago the port and train station were pretty easy to find and to get a car to. I would pick them up direct from the port - I seem to remember it is on the outskirts so I don't think you really go into the town as such. Also Livorno is not a really huge city, so I don't think you will have too many problems like you envisage. Sorry I can't help more.
