Hi, we're trying to translate the letture for our soon approaching wedding (July 5th) and are having trouble with this line. If anyone can offer a translation of this we'd appreciate it very much. Out attempts at a literal translation aren't worth a damn. Thanks guys!

It means "The Lord watches over you and protects you".

“May the Lord watch over you and protect you” translates “Vegli su di voi il Signore e vi protegga”.
Here it says “Veglia.... protegge” so Alice Twain’s got it right.

No offence meant, Bill, seriously.

She's translating it for english speaking persons in attendance- so I framed it the way an english speaker would, rather than providing a literal translation.
