Hi, everyone.

I ran across a word that my free translation website doesn't have. What does "laicita" mean? The "a" should have an accent above it.

Mine shows it as: laicality or laity

Chambers does not show 'laicality', just:

laity noun (usually the laity) the people who are not members of a particular profession, especially those who are not part of the clergy.

laity - people not belonging to clergy - gets translated as "laicato"

"laicità" means a non religious (not necessarily atheist), indipendent way of thinking. It is close to the non-politic meaning of "liberal".
