I know a similar topic became a debate about the military, but the original question was never answered.

Does anyone know of an English speaking Psychiatrist working in the Veneto area?

Thanks to everyone in advance for their help and for keeping answers on topic.

No, sorry. We need someone who can prescribe medication as well.

If you have a listing for a Certified Conselor or Psychologist in the area, please also post their information. I hope that this topic can be a source for others as well.

Thanks

You might look at:

http://italy.usembassy.gov/acs/professionals/doctors/doctors-florence.asp

I think it shows some English speaking MD's. You probably need to go back through it and look in the Milano consulate; even if none are near you they probably know someone.

Have sent you a private message, hope you get it. I am a bit biased because he is also my friend but there is an excellent American neurologist licensed in both Italy and New York who sees patients privately in the city of Vicenza. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thanks Stefanaccio I did get your pm - I hope you received my reply. If you feel comfortable sharing your friend's information here on this board I encourage you to do so. Psychiatric help is an important issue for those who need it and there are many foreigners that move to Italy that have difficulties adjusting.

Of course if people wanted your friend's information, they could always pm you as well...

Thanks for your help.

As a continued follow up:

I telephoned the US consulate in Venice, Milan and Florence. Both Milan and Florence directed me to their websites - which is the same list of doctors as what's listed above. The people I spoke with in Venice did not have any information regarding English speaking Psychiatrists in this area.

I am still asking everyone to submit whatever information they can related to this topic. Perhaps some of our friends with connections to the US military facilities in Aviano or Vicenza can offer any insight? Any doctors, be they 'in the National Health System' or not, will be beneficial.

Thanks again to everyone.
