Hi can anyone tell me how I can get a Hepatitus A and maybe B shot in Venice or anywhere who gives these...I need to get one and then another one month later...

Also my husband needs to get a blood test done to see if he needs to get one too...we do not have a doctor here as we are not in the system.

Thanks

Hopefully one of our Venice residents can ask their physician if he sees patients in libere professioni, then you can try to make an appt with the medico, who in turn can give you a referral for blood test, innoculations, etc. Does your insurance cover it or is it for emergencies only?

I am not really sure if our insurance will cover this or not but we have such a large deductible it probably would not matter...the problem is really getting a doctor to see us...

some people have told me to go to a pharmacia and ask there...seems there is a hepatitis a break out in prague where we will be visiting for 5 days...

I should have specified- I was wondering if your insurance company has a list of doctors they've dealt with in each area. Mine does.

As for the farmacia, the ones here do flu shots. I don't think they would do Hep A/B shots or blood tests, but I've been wrong before. gig

It's called "epatite" and you will not get it from any pharmacy - they do not do blood tests either.

If your insurance company cannot help you then go to your local ULSS and ask there.

That's the Italian Health Service.

But Lorna's idea isn't bad, possibly they could direct you to a doctor working in libere professione who can give you a referral for blood test and inoculation.

No one who lives in Venice has responded with their doctor's contact info, so you may have to resort to that.

OK my insurance company has no connections in Italy (don't ask. I do intend to ask one of my Italian friends for a doctor(not sure how that will go)but where can I find the ULSS or Italian health Service office or how do I look it up...even when I went to a farmacia to ask how one goes about this they did not know...Does anyone think if I went to the Civil Hospital here they could point me in the right direction? again any help will be greatly appreciated...

Here's a list:

I think I'd try the Italian friend's doctor first- maybe he/she can just give you referral on the spot.
