Oh dear - this is going to create some really big arguments now.

Why can't they allow those, who feel they can no longer go on, to just come to terms with their own God (which ever one that is) over what is a very personal and often painful decision?

Why must the State fight the Church (not just in Italy, but everywhere) when/if it is against medical advice and knowledge of each individual case?

We had a similar case in Florida a few years ago. Even after the courts had ok'd pulling the plug, Bush and the Republicans in congress held an emergency session to try and change the laws. Sounds like the Right in Italian parliament is trying the same thing:
