We recently met a couple who'd just signed up for the Italian healthcare system, ASL.
as we began talking about the costs, we realized that they had used their INVESTMENT income to calculate thier fee. This is NOT CORRECT! Income earned is considered, as well as pension income, but income from investments in NOT.

We showed our investment income to the local ASL office only to substantiate that we had enough funds to live on. Others on this board have paid the minumum because they were living off investment income as well. It's fine to pay your fair share, but since most of us are on limited incomes at this point, please don't OVERpay either...
