CIA SNATCH TRIAL FROZEN TILL MARCH

The article also covers a good bit of the background surrounding the issue of torture and rendition in the EU and the role being played by the EU legislative bodies and their investigative committees.

I find it heartening that -- despite delays and the possibility that it ends up being quashed on secrecy grounds -- this trial is going at all.

It shows that despite the many failings of the Italian governmental structure and culture, the judiciary still plays a vital and vigorous roll in ensuring that the Constitution is upheld. I hope that the whole truth comes out and that justice is served.

Yes it is heartening that there are still some politicians, judges and senior police officers who will, and do stand up for what is right.

Let's just hope that those they are investigating don't deal them the same fate as dealt to so many others like them over recent years.

People like Aldo Moro, Police Prefect General Dalla Chiesa and in 1992 the car-bomb murders of the 2 leading prosecutors, Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino.

They surely are brave men and to be admired!
