I know this is off topic in a forum about Italy, so the mods can feel free to delete it, but I would like to ask Britons here a question.
Could you please give me the name of some actor/politician/personality/whatever who speaks with a
- Estuary English accent
- Mancunian accent
- Geordie accent
so I can look for them being interviewed/acting on youtube and get an idea of these accents?

I guess Ricky Gervais has a EE accent and the Oasis are quintessentially Mancunian, right?
Any other suggestions?

Thank you so much.

Michael Howard - ex-conservative politician was supposed to be one of the original Estuary English speakers - I seem to remember it was kind of coined for the way he speaks - you may find something in an archive with him speaking.

Oasis speak fake Manc. They are from down my way - their mum lived two streets away from where I lived for 11 years and no-one speaks like that from that part of Manchester! More typical is Ben Kingsley when he is talking in interviews. He is Salford, but it will do!! He might be a bit posh, so check out Peter Kay...

Geordie is Jimmy Nail! But I'm guessing he exagerates too!

If you want any Yorkshire listen to Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean when they are not acting, in fact Mr Bean speaks with his Yorkshire accent in quite a few films these days. National Treasure springs to mind!

Ricky is an anomaly - the only person I know who speaks like him is from Surrey! I also don't know how much his being half French affects the way he speaks.

JAP check out Peter Kay too - very North Manchester but at least you will see the variation. Mr Kingsley sounds much more like my good self ( but a male version of course!) Wink
