Has anybody ever been to Isola di Giglio? If so, is it nice? I have never heard of it, but am told it is a great place to visit. Someone I know might be moving there.

Isola del Gilio is a tiny island of the Tuscan Coast. It's a well-known holiday place, not as popular as Elba but probably nicer. The bad part is that the island is really very small, with only three tiny villages (Giglio Castello, Giglio Porto and Campese), so in the winter months it can become really quite lonely. The mainland is just a couple of hours off by boat, in summer at least. The island is too tiny for an airport.

I thought so. I looked it up on the net. My darling daughter is freaking out!!! Her husband might want to be transferred there. It is hard enough for her to establish herself where she's at, now this place looks so small....and truly lonely. Any expats there do ya think?

Maybe, he wants to be alone with his Bride?!?!?!? Then again it could be an easier place to work. But, if it were me I would go there for the romance of it, alone and in love!

You are probably right Gil, that is what he said, it would be safer for his work. Plus, he said it would be safer for her. He works near Firenze and he said it is getting pretty wicked around there.

For the romance part................... gig you are probably right in that department too...

Last time I went was less than one hour by regular traghetto.

Alessandra, was it nice there? Was is old-fashioned touristy or modern? We are planning on going there when we come to visit for Christmas.
