so...when I was last in Italy, I seem to recall seeing something in my bill about a new IBAN? or was it just the format of how it is listed on my bill? (should have paid more attention!)

I have been just trasfering money via PayPal, but now I am getting a PayPal messgae saying my IBAN is not a valid one (?) - don't think I needed an IBAN actually with PayPal in the past. If it's a PayPal problem, I'm not concerned - I'll just pay for a BofA wire here in the US to send over the money...but if the IBAN has changed, I'd hate to wire money to the wrong account! (yes, tried calling my bank branch...but no one answered! seriously. I'll keep trying them, but was wanting to get some money sent on Mon. am - getting worried becasue I will have bills due and the account is getting low!)
Thanks for any info.!

I would ask your local poste- the IBAN includes your account number so it's hard to say.

Hello Musetta ,
you can find your's IBAN code on the Bank account statement that you receive from BancoPosta - on the right-hand of the page
you can see the Coordinate Bancarie .Under you find the Codice Iban - Attention when you need payments to your's bank account from clients you has to give they this code without spaces.

Hmmm,
I wonder if it's not really a problem. I got messages like that but it was because my bank changed names. The IBAN didn't change so the money was transferred without a problem but the bank sent me a message saying it might not transfer next. Then the sender of the money changed the name of the bank to the new correct name and I stopped getting this message.

My bank is San Paolo and this was when they merged/bought Intesa. I'm not sure who bought who.
So I don't think your IBAN changed. I think it's something in the format or name. Look for something announcing a "new name" on their website. But of course before you send money....check and check again.

hmmmm....Thanks! I'm thinking it is just a PayPal.it problem (I do have the IBAN on my7 statements, but I do not have the last one sice it is in Italy and I am not) - will just keep trying to reach my branch on Monday I think!
Thanks so much again!

There is a new format. Day off tomorrow so I'll try and look for details, but I definitely had a letter about a new format.

Sorry I didn't get back earlier but I'm working 6/7 at the moment and clean forgot.

Anyway, my latest BP bank statement says:

Dal 30 giugno il codice IBAN sostuisce definitivamente le coordinate bancarie tradizionali.

So you need to use the IBAN code which on mine starts IT18. It is in the format:
IT18 Annn nnnn nnnn nnnn nnnn nnn

There's an interbank penalty of 1€ if you use a wrong or old code.

EDIT: 'A' in the code above indicating any letter - in my case it is R - but not sure if this will be true for all BP codes.

hmmmmmmm...ok...have probably been using the totally wrong one - which woulod explain why nothing goes through (BofA in the US just says it's wrong...but can't help me with the new one...can't seem to get my branch to give me the correct one over the phone, fax or internet for "security" reasons. ugh. will not be back for a few months...guess I will need to talk to someone in the main Rome office (or wherever)to try and help me out!)
Mine was startig with IT62 and then all numbers (the ABI, CAB and my account number)!

wanted to update in case anyone else had the same problem...sent a "help" email through the main bancoposte site...and...got a reply :-) with my new, correct IBAN. (sent the emil first actually...before posting here...just took them a while to get back to me...but, hey, they did...and now I'm a happy camper that I will not arrive at my house to find my electricity cut off ;-)!)

What's the new IBAN (minus the end part with your account number of course)?

BIC code:
BPPIITRRXXX

IBAN code:
IT - 62-O - 07601 - 15100 - 0000********

not at my files though, so don't know what the "old" one was for my account.
