I have been told the best way to establish a
bank account in Italy is to bring a cashier's check in the amount needed for your stay. Is this the best or is wiring funds the better way to go?
I am talking about Florence - don't know if
location makes a difference.
Thank you Smiler

It depends what they would charge to clear a foreign cheque. I suspect transferring funds might be cheaper.

We opened an account here and then transferred the funds in. The bank seemed quite happy to do this.
