Residente
Posted
A curious thing happened when I was on my last visit to Italy. I ran into my landlord who handed along some interesting news: apparently there is no longer a difference in utility bills for non-residents. Anyone know anything about this?

My landlord is a geometra and property developer, totally straight, and our contract has been registered with the Comune so no wool-over-the-eyes stuff here.

ENEL bills still differentiate. Someone did post that there's no difference between resident and non-resident electricity charges when you're signed up for more than 3kw.

All my bills are still in my Landladies name. Some of them say non-resident - but it is referring to the fact that it is her second home, not that I am living in it, if you see what I mean!

Also I did a check on the rates when I received one of the many letters explaining all the different charges and we really are talking a few Euro's difference in your bill if it is a non-resident rate, so it's possible it has now gone in the way it used to be applied.

Alyson, don't you have more than 3kw service? As Graeme said, if you have greater than 3kw service, you pay the same rate whether you are resident or not.
