Hi, I'm an EFL teacher currently living in Bologna (about a year now), about to move to Rome. All of the Bolognesi I talk to insist that although housing may cost a bit more in Rome, the cost of living is in general lower. Does anyone know if this is true, and what exactly this translates to? For two people I guess we spend about €80-100 a month on groceries. I did notice last time I went that a cup of coffee in Rome costs a lot less (at least .90-€1 here). Any tips you could offer would be fantastic, thanks!

OMG, I live in Turin (but have also lived in Rome and Trieste) and I spend about 80 euros per week on groceries, minimum, and we are also in 2! I shop at markets and specialized stores, and sometimes hit the big supermarkets and we certainly don't waste food, so maybe Bologna is super affordable!
