We are moving to Italy in June and have decided we want to live in Rome (although we aren't certain the exact area yet).

We want to put our now 3 yo daughter in school. Ideally I would like her to go from 9-1 or so. We can't afford the international schools.

Does anyone know how to get a list of the private and or catholic italian schools. I presume this is my only option as I have read it is hard to get into the scuola materna. I am also wondering what time of year do you enroll (Feb/March) and is it possible to do this from abroad?

Any info is appreciated.

It is difficult to get into asilo nido but I think all residents have a right to a place in materna - not necessarily the one that you choose though! Here the comune has a list on their website of all the schools - including Catholic schools.

important to know the area you'll be living in before choosing the school. Good options in EUR include Highlands Institute (bilingual preschool) and Istituto Massimo. Both are catholic private schools.
