Hi everyone,

Il Nido (aka The Birth Center) is a facility in Rome that provides prenatal services as well as services for mothers and babies (they have an ad on p. 39 of the English Yellow Pages). The owner is an American midwife who has been in Rome for many years. I'm currently taking a prenatal yoga class there which was recommended by my doctor (Thursdays 5:30-7:00p, approx. 55 euro for a 4 class series I think).

They just e-mailed me to say they are going to offer a prenatal class for English speaking couples on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 7:00-9:00p. They are trying to assess interest to decide whether to make it a regular group or just this one-time class. I asked my yoga instructor what the program would be, and she said usually it was a lot of information sharing, watch some videos, etc.

I imagine they will be stressing the non-medicated approach to birth a bit since it is a natural childbirth center, but I'm just going to take away what I want (I have a regular doctor rather than using a midwife, and absolutley plan to have an epidural!). I thought it sounded good to share info about services/groups in Rome though, and it sounded like a good way to meet other English speaking pregnant folks. Smiler

Here's Il Nido's info - they are about a 10 minute walk from the Piramide metro stop. Anyone who is interested should call I think so they can know approx. how many to expect - the person who answers the phone usually speaks some English.
