Does anyone know the percentage of people who join the workforce after graduating liceo/upper secondary school versus people who go to college/university?

Bill2, your statistics don't really have anything to do with the OP's request. S/he was asking about the percentage of those who go on to find stable jobs of those who complete liceo/upper secondary school as opposed to those who go on to complete college/university.

OP, I can't help you to find those statistics, but job prospects in Italy aren't so great such as that even those who have many years of schooling aren't able to get a job due to not knowing the right person or not having workforce experience. That's not to say it's always the case, but it happens a lot.

No kidding? And your response has even less to do with her request. You just say "but job prospects in Italy aren't so great such as that even those who have many years of schooling aren't able to get a job due to not knowing the right person or not having workforce experience." What does that have to do with

At least I gave her a link to ISTAT's plethora educational stats. You gave her zilch.

This is not exactly what you want but it does give employment percentages on university grads.
On a personal note. My son has a 5 year high school diploma and it took him almost a year to find a job (in his field - tourism). Some of his classmates found jobs earlier through family connections or unrelated to what they had studied, like working in a shop. My daughter, on the other hand, graduated from the university (math) and had a job within less than a week.
You might also take a look at the Excelsior statistics website which has lots of statistics on employment in Italy, but again I didn't seen the exactly what you are looking for.
