I'm looking for information about artist residencies in Italy. I'm an artist and dual citizen so this seems like a perfect opportunity to get to know my roots.

There is a website called transartists.nl that lists some but those seem very mainstream and often costly.

Often In the U.S. towns or other cultural bodies offer short residencies where they give you free work - live space in exchange for doing a public art project or a show.

Anything similar in Italy? A website ( Italian or English) is great or other suggestions on where to start looking....?

Thanks

The only artist community I know of is in Pietrasanta in the province of Lucca but near the coast. The town attracts mainly sculptors due to its proximity to the Carrara quarries. However, there is an association of artists, including painters, that you might want to contact. They have a link for housing but I can't get it to to work. Here is the link.

Perhaps someone at the Arcosanti project in Arizona could be of assistance. Curious which part of Italy you are from.

I'm American originally and from Chicago. My family is from Capponarri, outside Lucca.

I have also heard of Pietrasanta. All that wonderful marble. I'll try to get one of the Italians I know to look at the website and see if there is someone to inquire to.

More suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
