hi there...

has anyone seen fresh coriander for sale in Florence. I have been to San Lorenzo and Esselunga but not had any luck!!

I'm hankering after a bit of the middle east and the orient in my diet...

Many thanks,

Rebecca

Really?? I suppose I must still be used to Tesco getting anything in any season! I'll have to hold out for a bit longer...unless, and now I am really pushing my luck, anyone has seen boxes of fresh frozen herbs for sale anywhere?

Thanks

You might be better off growing it to ensure a ready supply. For some reason, mine kept going throughout winter - must be hardier than I thought. Next time you're back in the UK, you can pick up the seeds early enough. Now is a good time to plant them (in a warm spot in your house so they germinate).

I have looked everywhere I go in Tuscany and can't seem to find it fresh. I have asked a gardener to get me some seeds and I will grow it myself. I'm desperate!

If you have trouble finding seeds, let me know. I'd be happy to send you some if you think they'd make it to you through the mail system.

This isn't Tuscany and it's no longer February, but I found individual sellers on the outskirts of Porta Palazzo in Torino selling fresh coriander (cilantro) by the bunch, along with tons of fresh mint. They are no doubt abusivi: they are dealing from upturned crates and look ready to skedaddle at the first sign of authority, but they sure had it! Tend to deal on the corner of R Margherita and Milano.

Now if I can find some Moroccan lemons...
