Being that I am so swamped with my job, I am hoping that we can find 2 or 3 more people who would like to be mods.

I am putting a call out to all members to give me your recommendations for who you think should be a mod and why. You can nominate yourself or someone else.

Please send any votes/comments/etc. to me via email cristina@expatsinitaly.com

Judith in Umbria IMHO would be ideal!

Good, calm and sensible advice ALWAYS, and very knowledgeable!

I moderate a couple of other forums that I visit, so I'll volunteer if no one else jumps out. Honestly, this forum doesn't seem like it needs a lot of moderation. Everyone seems pretty well behaved and only break out in angry tirades in the political threads, which can be expected. Annika and Bill seem to stay on top of the threads pretty well.

Carole B, you are too kind indeed. Unfortunately, with the continued drop in the dollar I have to work for money. Is that not a sad story?

My contribution will have to be to behave myself-- unless they start talking about bidets again.

Moderating duties are not only about putting out flames but also about fixing little errors (spelling, formatting, etc.) as well as starting topics to get people to talk, and sometimes helping with back end stuff (computer/programming) etc. although normally Annika and I handle these things

Cristina, being already the moderator of an usenet newsgroup, I understand the burden. This is why my visit was silent EEK!

What being a moderator is all about:

- being an active reader on this site
- being able to sometimes make uncomfortable decisions
- daring to take the risk of being questioned
- being a rolemodel while still being yourself

but really, most of the job is to fix quotes. As a moderator you must absolutely know how to post a correct quote. lightbulb Is that why nobody offers to help out? Listen, I promise to give you a 1-on-1 crash course in quotes, ok? aw, its okayWink

Come on people. It's not that big a deal. Come join us at the mod forum tea party! munching_out

That light bulb guy always cracks me up gig

Interested, sure, and thanks for thinking of me, Bill, but I won't commit to something I can't guarantee I'll have the time for, and that's where I am right now. I'm in the process of moving house, and that's where any of my free time is going these days--makes me feel a little like this electric
