Cristina, did you ever find out if bringing along our dog would create a problem? Thanks!

I am so sorry but that one just seemed to get buried. I will ask Rita to ask the owner.

Just to bring this back to the top....when do you think the owner might give us an answer?

Carole.

My first reaction is sure, why not? The Villa San Michele is in a national park surrounded by forest and outdoor space and I didn't see any signs excluding pets.

Inside the restaurant space we are using, USLA prohibits animals.

I'll call tomorrow to ask if we can add four, maybe five dogs to the guest list?

Can you count one more dog in? Porter dog will be coming to Chianti with us, we found a lovely B&B that is also welcoming him there, I'd love to bring him to the GTG so he can play with some new friends.

Yea...we get to spend the weekend in Chianti!

Tania I would love to bring Cassidy (she would love to play with another lab) but she is so hyper (she will be 1 on the 25th of this month and still thinks that the greatest thing in the world is jumping on people or stealing their shoes and socks!) and I know that I will not be able to deal with her as I will be meeting everyone, talking and enjoying our community so I just can't do it. I am almost tempted to leave the kids and husband at home too just so I don't have any distractions. My youngest is an escape artist so I will be constantly worried that if I turn my back for a minute she will be gone. Maybe I should bring out the leash I have for her and attach it to me idea!

Cristina:

I've been contemplating getting a long leash so I can leave Porter near a tree, I'm sure we will have to do something with them during lunch anyway. Porter is 9 now but still acts pretty young especially around new people - he would love to meet another doggy friend!

Are there many children coming? It may be worth asking the place we are meeting at if they know someone who could watch children for a bit for all the parents and have them doing some activities? Saw this recently at a Bday party for a friend and it really helped the adults be able to mingle.

Dunno - just a thought. Will be great to finally meet!

Eurobimbo,
Porter will get to have a reunion with his old pal Pluto. Pluto really has a thing for Labs and I attribute that to spending his early weeks with a lab. He'll be so excited dogrun

Hm. Sounds like this is bound to be a dogowner GTG. dogrun

I realize that it would be pretty presumptious of me to ask everybody to leave their pets at home just because of me and that's something I would never do - and don't get me wrong, I LOVE dogs! It's just that I'm allergic...

Where would the dogs be during the GTG?
Here no dogs are allowed in restaurants but I don't know about Italy. It's totally fine if they are outside, but with twenty dogs running around inside (worst case scenario EEK!) I would get problems. hungover

Dont worry I'm sure they'll be outside Annika, esp with all the kids running (and crawling) about.

Sorry Annika, I already appologize for Porter, he just KNOWS people who don't like him or is allergic and really tries to be the one that shows you he is different in the possibility that you might love him.....

I'll do me best to keep him away Wink

Do you have any allergy medicine you can take like that might help?

Tania, I'm not asking you to apologize for Porter dog - this is ME apologizing for not being able to caress him! sor_1_ I will be taking medicines but if there are too many dogs in a crowded room they might not help. Outside - no problem whatsoever!

Actually I'm not really worried about this, not anymore than I'm really worried about getting lost on the airport, forgetting to bring my luggage, getting off at the wrong train station or that Carole's secretly a vicious mass murderer.. nbh
I'm just having these occasional freak-out-moments - it's just a little more than one month left until I'll be in ITALY!!! dcow

Annika - I have met Carole, and she is not a vicious mass murderer. She is funny as a whip, but I don't see her *having* you for lunch. :OD

I'm not a big dog person though, especially ones that jump on me, or sniff me. hehe I was attacked by a german shepard when I was younger, and I get uncomfortable around scary big dogs. I hope there won't be any scary dogs there. EEK!

Small dogs rock. Unless I step in their poo. Then they suck. haha

I know I'm late in joining the game, but I'll be there this weekend at the GTG!!! I'm really excited to meet all of you.

I have a ride to the GTG (thanks, Gia) but I thought I would ask if anyone still had bed space or knowledge of a place to stay for Saturday night.

I have friends in town in Florence so I could even go back there if someone has floor space....

Any ideas? Thanks!

Annika--will bring some Italian books for you we talked about.

Well just two days to go! So far we have things lined up around here and it looks like we are going to be able to sneak off for the day (fingers crossed).

Looking forward to seeing old friends and also making new ones!

Don't know if it may be useful....this is the B&B where bardigian, her son and I are staying...they may have some room, and if you do manage to stay there we both have our cars with us.
It's NOT expensive either - about €35/8 per night inc. prima collazione....

Apart from that, don't know what to suggest!

Is anybody else bringing their longjohns and fur coat? I don't want to be too strange but I am freezing and they said it will get worse tomorrow.
