I made the offer to set up a family GTG in Belluno sometime soon when the weather is warm enough to stay outside. A couple of people replied on the Mums in Veneto forum. So I'm repeating the offer. As I said we have a huge yard with lots of grass and trees and a big driveway for bike riding all fenced in. You can bring the kids and their bikes, we can set up a BBQ and have a pot luck.

I'd like to hear from anyone interested as to when is a good time. We are here except from May 30 to June 16, so far. It would be nice to meet some other parents and let the kids run around speaking English and Italian. Belluno is 1 hour from Venice, 1 1/2 from Aviano, 2 from Verona. It's not far from the A27 so it's any easy drive. If you want to see pictures of our place look at the website below. You can email me john@hm-architects.com

I think you may need to post this on the 'Expats GTG' board as well as here....
Many people who may be interested in going to an event where you are in Belluno may not read this 'Kids in Italy' board. Unless, as a group, you only wish to target parents with younger children, in which case I would still post on the GTG board but just stipulate that it's only open to a certain group of Expats. I'm sure if you did that evryone would understand why.

Good idea Carole, in my orginal post on the subject I mentioned that anyone was welcome, as long as those without kids could put up with the confusion. I couple glasses of wine always helps. So there is no limitation to the invitation. Why don't you come, though I think you are about 3 hours from here, a bit of a drive.

Thanks, I might just do that.... 3hours isn't a 'long' drive, and most of it would be by autostrada. My Maporama goves me this, but 97kmh is a bit slow for autostrada travel (for me anyway).

Transportation mode:
By Car
Total distance: 389.1 km
Travelling time: 03h 52
Average speed: 97 km/h

What a pity there's not a fast way along the Valtellina via Bormio and Trento, as we're on the same level almost as you look across the map....

But we'll see. If I did come it would mean the 'mutt' would have to travel too though.

OK, here I am. I was hesitating on my reply because we don't really have a date and my husband's schedule is crazy. I can come with out him, but it'll have to be by train because I haven't driven here yet. Maybe this could be my first trip alone in the car, although the autostrada still scares me a bit. Anyway, we are pretty open (we being me, my 2 kids and dog) the month of May and after June we're not sure of anything. My husband returns tomorrow, so I will better know his schedule then. I would like to bring him so you will have someone to stand next to the grill with you. Isn't that what you guys do at BBQ's?

Anne,
That's cool, in the next few days we will need to come up with a date. Our place is just a couple of minutes from the tran station by car or maybe 10 walking. We could pick you up at the station if you don't drive.

JHelm, have you bought your grill yet? I was looking at the calendar for May and we actually have 2 weekends we could try to make it up to your neck of the woods, the 13/14th or the 20th(21st won't work because DH leaves again). Let me know if these dates work for you and everyone else and let's get the party started. Does anyone have dill pickles? munching_out

I haven't forgotten, one of those two weekends will work maybe the 20th, got to check with everyone, we are out of town at the moment. We will probably invite some locals with kids as well. I will post a date this week.
