hi
we are moving to italy in june and have a 3 yr old in montessori at present and an 11 yr old in grade 6. we want to continue sending our son to montessori and would like to know if normal italian schools follow the montessori systems anyway, if not where can i find a list of the schools, i have searched but cannot find anything, my italian is piccolo!!, we can move anywhere there is inexpensive houses, so are drawn to le marche and abruzzo. thanks in advance.

No, public schools in Italy do not follow the Montessori program, although some teachers may integrate some of Montessori's ideas. There are a few Montessori schools, all private. This means that any children can attend but, unlike in public government- or town-owned schools tuition is not free (paid through taxes) but you have to pay for it. Just google scuola Montessori (+ the name of the area you will be living / want to settle in) for the addresses.
