Our family is moving to Rome for a year in September. Currently, our two-year-old son is receiving early-intervention speech services in New York City (he was assessed as considerably delayed at 18 mos, in both receptive and expressive language). We'd like to continue the therapy if possible. Are there any English-language speech therapists in Rome??

Of course, I recognize that embarking on therapy this early may be a uniquely Manhattan/Brooklyn phenomenon...but it's worth a shot! Would be a shame to drop it once begun.

Thanks very much for any suggestions.
Jennifer

Early intervention is the way to go - Good for you to pursue continuing it.

I don't know how they handle this in Italy but I work with kids in the states with cleft palate and many of the kids require speech therapy. There is a group of professionals that work with these kids in Rome and typically there is an SLP on the team so it could be a resource or place to start. I know these teams exist as we once had an italian doc visit us in Seattle. so maybe checking with the Children's Hospital in Rome would be a place to start. Good luck!
