I tried the thigh but found the tum easier and less painful. Maybe I just have a big belly anyway! If you do it right it doesn't hurt, really, it's when you don't it makes you cry!

As you mention you had had problems in that area and so a digital exam was probably indicated on sound medical reasoning.
I was making the point that for a no/low risk pregnancy there is no indication for routine digital cervical examination-none what soever.
