Don't worry about it - with my first bits were left in and my GP pulled them out at my 6 week check! As long as you have no infection it won't matter. I'm surprised they aren't the sort that dissolve...with my second (both UK births) they were. Auguri! I think a cow is appropriate, don't you ! What did you have and what is it called and how much did baby weigh?! Somebody has to ask!

Thanks for info everyone. I had the staples removed on Monday and all is well.
We named the baby Luca, he was born on Friday 8th June weighing 3.8kg. Everything was fine, they held him next to me for a couple of mins and told me he was fine. Within 15 mins, he turned blue and was rushed to special care, we were told he had a serious blood infection which affects the oxygen levels in the blood and he was put on a ventilator. The following day, he became seriously ill and started to have a fit because of his desperate need for air.
They took him to Treviso hospital which specialise in very sick babies. 11 days on, he has made good progress, is off the ventilator and the infection has almost gone. Although my instincts tell me he is a healthy normal baby, his eyes are fine, his hearing appears ok, the doctors have still to do a final scan of his brain to determine if he has been affected by the ordeal. The doctors seem to think everything will be ok, and his only problem is that he has been left with a week right arm, which they think has been caused by a damaged muscle in his shoulder possibly due to the delivery process.
I have no idea what the infection was, I did my own research and thought maybe he had caught streppolocol b virus which is transmitted to newborns from the mother during the delivery process. It has been confirmed that this was not the case.
Then strangely enough, we were in the local park yesterday and got speaking to a man whos wife has just had a baby on the same day as me, at the same hospital and who also caught an infection and was taken to the special care unit. Very strange???

I had my first child cesarean 2 years ago. But I am in the US. They removed my staples before I even left the hospital. It might not hurt to give a quick call to your doctor just to make sure that is the protocol in Italy. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! And I hope you heal quickly and get your situation sorted out.
