Hello All

I live near Torino&Asti and have a 3month old boy&19month old girl. I had my little girl in London & had a very busy social life with her (mother&baby groups, under 1's, baby nursery rhymes etc). I moved here in feb, had my boy in July & am desperate to get out and about but am unable to find any activities here in italy and am feeling quite isolated&increasingly anxious as winter is approaching! If anyone is closeby in a similar situation & would like to meet up or knows of any activities i would be very grateful.

Cheers , fi

Hi Fifi!

I have a 14 month old and live in Torino, and I've had a hard time finding playgroups here as well. The International Women's Club of Torino has a Mom & Tots group once a month, I think. But I've found that they often meet out in the hills and I don't drive here. Frowner I've even asked at the Children's Hospital here if they know of any playgroups, but they didn't.

Anyway, I live in the center of Torino (but outside the historical center). How far from Torino do you live? Do you drive? If you ever come to Torino, I'd love to get together sometime! Smiler

Dear girls,
I just moved to Torino and need to get organized (getting into routine with my job, finding a good baby sitter, finding a permanent house etc..). At the present time I'm in the northern area but I'll be downtown very often to look for a house.I also have a car to drive around so we can get organized and meet up sometime. I have two boys, one is 6, the other one 13 months old.

Hi Amy&Lorenz,

Am so happy to hear from you both! I live in Villanova D'Asti, not too far away, and i drive &live close to the train which is very quick so is easy enough for me to skoot into Turin. I guess my problem is little marley is just 3 months old&breastfeeding so has to come everywhere with me but little mabel, my toddler would love the company of other tots to run around with. Is there any baby friendly places around? Am desperate for a whacky warehouse! Alternatively i could leave my toddler with mum in law & meet up for a coffee. (Am still a bit anxious re travelling with both my little angels!)

Any ideas? Hope hear from you soon, cheers, Fi

I totally understand about traveling with 2 little ones. I would be nervous as well. I wish we could find a place where we could let all 3 of our toddlers play together. Probably one of our homes is best? That way little Marley would be comfortable also. Maybe I could figure out the train to where you live Fifi? However it does make me a little nervous traveling alone (without my husband) on the train with Marcello, in case he decides he hates the train and screams the whole way! eek But it is probably easier for me to come there, since you have 2 little ones. Otherwise, parking in my neighborhood is fairly easy. I live in the Campidoglio area near the corner of Corso Francia and Corso Svizzera.

Another thing, on the weekends, my husband is not working and can drive me anywhere. Gosh, I really miss driving and the freedom it allows!

What is a whacky warehouse?

My Boyf finishes work at 2 all next week so he can travel to Torino with me one afternoon then leave us to talk babies for an hour or else you are more than welcome to come here! Let me know whats best. Whacky warehouses are big indoor soft play areas in the UK with a cafe squishy sofa part for mummys..... bliss!

Oh yes, we had something similar to Whacky Warehouse in the U.S. In fact, we asked the children's hospital about "baby gym" type places here in Torino, but they said they didn't know of any. Seems strange because I am almost positive that other cities in Italy have these (Florence for one).

We're leaving to go out of town Friday morning and will be back Sunday evening. Let's talk after I get back and try to figure something out. Maybe Lorenz might be ready to get together by then also? My email address is on my profile if you want to contact me that way.

Maybe getting together on a weekend is better? Does your bf work on weekends? Is he Italian? Just curious...because my husband is Italian, and they could talk together. Smiler

Hi Amy&Lorenz

I think i am onto something! It is called the Zoe Centre in Moncallieri and has activities for 13 months on.. if you google Zoe and Moncalieri the website will come up. Very exciting! I will go along this week and let you both know. By the way Amy , my boyf is Italian so if we all meet up at some point the boys can chat. Maybe we could meet up at the Zoe Centre?

In Torino northern area ther's the big AUCHAN supermarket+ mall with a Flunch diner and little baby gym for customers. It's not a great area neither a great place but it's an escape to have our bigger son play while eating something. I'm writing from an internet cafe since I still don't have a connection to the web.

Hi!

Sorry it has taken me forever to post on here.

Fifi, did you end up checking out the Zoe Centre? I saw that they are open on Saturdays. Are you interested in meeting up there this Saturday? Or maybe next Saturday?

Lorenz, it would be great if you're able to meet up as well! Smiler

I also live just outside of Turin, in a small town called Lombardore. I also have a 6 yr-old boy and I am trying to teach him English, so organizing play dates with other English-speaking children would be great for him.

Alas Zoe Centre in Moncalieri would be too far for me to travel, so if you organize another time in the downtown area, I would really like to be a part of the group.

I hate driving in Turin so when I go downtown I usually park the car in a parking lot where I can take the bus/tram downtown or wherever I want to go.

Auchan is located on Corso Romania, not far from the IVECO factory.

There is another place called RIMBALZOPOLI in Settimo Torinese (not too far from where the Auchan mall is located) that is actually one of these "whacky warehouses" described by Fifi. My son went there with summer camp and had a load of fun. It's a popular place for birthday parties etc.

I like this idea...I'm Canadian, my hubs is Italian.

I now live temporarily in Torino and drive daily to Cuorgnè, but it's either very early or very late (around 7 PM).

Oh no...my husband just told me today that I think we have to go to one of his work colleague's son's birthday party this Saturday the 18th. Maybe we can meet the next Saturday, the 25th? I haven't heard from Fifi. I don't know if she went to Zoe Centre to see if it was a nice place to meet up. My email is on my profile if you want to contact me that way.

I've been living in Turin for almost 3 years and I have 3 year old twins. I strated taking them to the Baby Gym in la Crocetta neighborgood when they were 1 and a half and we went for a year. I really liked it. Moms went with their kids an hour a week and my girls loved it. They didn't go last year but I am thinking of signing them up this year, where they would go without me. A good thing to know: the managers and teachers speak English and they try to give the classes in both English and Italian.

Here is a web site with the contact info.
