I know its a biy late now but I have discovered a good way with figs if the weather is dry.

Pick what fresh figs you need then leave the rest drop and sit in the sun until they are about 50% smaller.These can be taken indoors and if you leave them out of the sun for a bit uncovered they moisten up a bit.Then put then in a glass jar.Use them over the winter for cakes etc.
