From browsing this forum I was pleasantly surprised to find that I can drive a 125cc scooter with a class B licence... my Italian friend seemed to think 50cc was the limit.

My other question is can I also carry a passenger (assuming the motorino is correctly classified)?

I'm not sure about the rest of europe but in england you can only ride 50cc with a car licence, motorbike basic training then lets you ride up to 125cc but without a passenger. I was under the impression that European licences were standardised but I guess not.. I still want to make sure it's legal before I go buying a 125 and find I can't take the missus on the back! Especially since I wil be doing it on a UK licence....

you can drive up to 125cc, developing no more than 11kw with a class B license according to the drivers manual from he school where I am currently studying for my patente. It doesn't say anything about the passenger load but i believe it is yes as long as all rules are obeyed...helmet wear etc.
