Hello, I have been living in Florence for two years now. I heard that people got together for a lunch in Florence. Missed that one!!!! I now have access to the computer, so I am hoping to meet with expats.
I was wondering whether anyone would like to get together for the Fourth of July near Florence. I thought about it too late for Memorial Day. Hopefully, we can pull this off. Hamburgers and hotdogs anyone????? Apple Pie? I can even get a hold of Dr. Pepper!!

Hi Sarina,

Welcome to the Modern World! It must feel great to have reliable internet service. My wife asked if I'd head anything about you or your Mom recently. We are supposed to be going to Naples on June 23rd and leaving July 10th. So far no mention of going to Florence but who knows as our daughter is coming with us for part of the trip. Best regards to you and Allessandro (sp?).

Hi Sarina!

We spoke what seems a million years ago! Then events here took over, like school, exams for my son etc. plus I phoned again a couple of times, but I think you were at work? I tend to collapse in the evenings in front of the TV!! Anyway, excuses done!Smiler! Good to see you on here!

I didn't reply as I'm from the UK so don't celebrate 4th July. But I wouldn't mind knowing where you can get Dr. Pepper from?!

Hi SarinaAle - I organized the GTG in April (thanks to Katie's restaurant recommendation!) and it's too bad we missed you.

I'll be out of the country in July, so sorry I won't meet you.

I suggest picking a place and starting another thread with time/details and ask people to RSVP! Good luck! Smiler

Thanks for the response everyone!!!
Gil, tell your lovely wife I said "Hello". Hopefully, you can get to Florence, it would be nice to see you again. We'll have to get to that good steak restaurant.

Yes, I am sorry too that I missed the lunch, it sounds like alot of fun and an opportunity to meet everyone.

Alyson, yes it does seem like a Million years ago. I was working alot and then went to the USA for 5 months, I was working there too. I was working at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit with my mom. I have been told by Dr. Yee that I need to come back to work.......haha He can't get over the fact I live in Italy. We have to meet up, I would really like that.

Katerina, I will email you my address as well. How long will you be in Italy?

Ms Adventures in Italy, please count me in the next GTG. Hopefully, we can meet one day.

Hi,
I have been living in Florence for about a year now. I would love it if someone sent me information about any fourth of July get togethers. I also heard that the consulate has had them. I could be wrong. Thanks for any help! hippy Laura

Try the American International Group, if they're not holding an event themselves, they'll know who is. They are very plugged in to the US Consulate in Florence. The only problem is once school lets out, most folks head out of town, so celebrations tend to be thin on the ground from the beginning of July to late August.

On the upside, during the summer there will be lots of little local feste which usually involve fireworks, barbecues, etc.
