I will be living in a small town near Verona next month (September) and would like to make some contacts with English speaking people. I can already imagine how lonely I'm going to become! I'm a 26 year-old female looking for either conversation (over coffee) or someone to travel with on the wekends! Also I'm very new to the site, if you know of a better place to post this message please let me know! Thank you

Hi KellyAnn, my daughter Sarina lives in Livorno and she is 26 years old too. I know she would love to hear from an English speaking person. She is also listed on this website.

Hello,

Thanks for such a quick response! I wil be living in Trevenzuolo, Italy which I've been told is about 30 mins from Verona using public transportation! How long have you lived in Verona and what do you do for work? I look forward to hearing from you!

Trevenzuolo is halfway between Verona and Mantov, although I think you will have much easier accesso to Verona since the town is in the Verona province. Nice area, although "a bit" peripherical. Nearby Isola della Scala has a railway station.

KellyAnn,

Hi! I don't live near Verona--I live in Faenza which is outside of Bologna, but I'm going to be doing some traveling starting in September...I'm 24 and don't really speak italian at all but if you ever want to take alittle road trip or meet up someplace to explore---traveling alone can get a litle old---let me know!

Good luck!

I wondered where you were homesick, when I saw that Micheal is arrived in Bologna. Get on up there and help him find a home!

Hi, gaellejo, welcome. I wish I could help you out here, but I'm way down in Umbria, too far away from Verona. I've visited there, but can't help you with meeting people and discussing life there. I'm sure you'll make good contacts when you begin your Italian lessons. In the meantime, I hope you hear from others who live in or near Verona, and best of luck to you.

Hi Karin,

My wife and I are also in our 30's - we live in Vittorio Veneto, about 40 minutes west of you. It's rough getting started with friends, but we're happy to meet up with you if you like. My wife is a doctor, so she may be able to assist with medical advice for your forthcoming baby. Reply here if you would like to try and arrange a coffee meeting. We've been all over the area and are happy to share with others all the great places we have found.

Can't believe it!
I live in Faenza too (in the very heart of it) and it's weird to know that at least TWO posters on here are from this smallish town.
Anyway, I'm Italian but my English is decent enough so I can propose an English/Italian lesson exchange to "Homesick in Faenza".

Ok, you never know what type of nutters you get to know on the internet, but I swear I've got no coat made of girls' skins nor do I run a neo-Nazi website. I'm a good bloke.

Hi, sorry for the delay; haven't checked the forum in a while. Thanks for the offer. Sounds lovely. How about towards end of October?? We're pretty busy during the next two weeks. How should we proceed now? Look forward to hearing from you. Greetings to your wife as well! K

Hi Karin

My wife and I moved to Udine in the summer.

We went through the "birth in Itlay" thing 2years ago in Padova and have made some great contacts here.

While I have english speakers galore at work, my wife has made some great friends through a playgroup run by an English/Italian couple (Lubiloo) in Via Pordenonne. Her and my daughter are there most weekday mornings and the owners often have english speakers drop in just for a chat (even those without children).

Maybe we'll see you there one day soon.

Matt

Hi guys

A great place to meet other mums and get together with your friends is this recently opened place Lubiloo. They are in Udine, Via pordenone 9b, udine 33100. This place was set up just for this. It's an English playhouse, guys speak English and hey they serve a good 'cuppa'.Opening times are Mon & Wed 4-7pm, Tue,Thur, Fri & Sat 10-12.30 & 4-7pm. Most Tus/Thurs morning is international mums mornings, so good time to meet other expats.

Does anybody know about places like that in Torino? And what about English language day cares for toddlers?

Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you... this Lubiloo sounds great! Herbie goes bananas mentioned it on another posting & I understood that it was a kind of a bar or something. Thanks for elaborating this time "herbie...". And thanks for the message Matt. Am sure I'll run into you or your wife if she's a "regular" there. It will be great for my 7-year old too, to maybe meet some other English-speaking kids. Karin
