Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any place that I can buy a region free dvd player? I looked online at a couple of places and most of them only ship in the U.S.

I was wondering if anyone knew of some Italian website where I could find them? or at least a company that ships out here? Thanks!

My neighbors bought me a region free DVD player at a local discount store. The brand is MP3Man.

Many players have software (or firmware) that prevents them from playing DVD's from other regions (for example a player sold in the US might be able to play only DVD's coded for the Americas, not Asia or Europe).

A region-free DVD player can play DVD's coded for any region.

A search should provide all the info you need. This has been discussed many times, and Cristina provided us with a link to a site where you can check to see if your DVD player can be hacked...made to play all regions.

The best think to do is write down the names and model numbers of several player's you're considering, then go to that site to see if they're hackable. I'd search for 'region free DVD'.

Some players are region-free right out of the box. If yours is not, you can check to see if it can be easily switched here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

This is a very solid tip. We fixed our region 2 player to be region free. The key was find a DVD player that we liked, checking the website to confirm it was 'amendable' and then using the Image Burn software downloadable for free at Imgburn.com. Very quick and easy and worked as advertised. Well done Bill 2, at last a win! Smiler

The region-free DVD player my neighbors bought me appears to be one of the supermarket €39 players. Not complaining- it works great! But doesn't require a big investment if you're unable to get the hack (like my Panasonic).

Hi Bill,

I also live in the Perugia area. Can you tell me the brand name of the region free DVD player your neighbors found for you and where they got it? I'll keep my eye out for it. Unfortunately, my current DVD player is not on the hack list. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Also my player does the same, think it was around around €35 or €37 at our Sinergy. Brand name is DPM model number is DPM DVD610USB. Has played both Italian and US DVD so far.

On a side note, I was very impressed to find that all of the DVDs I have bought so far had both Italian and English as an option for watching the movie.
